Beyond the Grid: The Solar Future
Our last article, in the December 2025/January 2026 issue of Fastener Technology International (FTI) (pages 88 and 89), focused on waste reduction and energy and resource efficiency to reduce the environmental impact of steel processing. This article explains how solar energy is becoming a growing renewable power source because of cost reductions, innovation in technology and the urgent need to cut greenhouse gas emissions. It plays a significant role in energy intensive industries like steel processing, which accounts for 7% to 9% of the world’s carbon dioxide emissions. Incorporating renewable energy is crucial to enhancing the industry’s long term economic viability and environmental performance.
