Developing Complex Cold Forged Parts Using Progression Design & FEA Simulation Software

Most of the complex cold forged parts that are being manufactured have been developed through experimentation with trial and error over the past many years. The design and development process has been expensive and time consuming. The result has been that the part features that were judged to be too difficult to design and develop were left out and made through machining. The situation now is quite different with the availability of the progression design software such as NAGFORM and FEA simulation software such as NAGSIM.2D/3D. This article will present the types of complex cold forged parts that can be developed using this software.
