External Thread Inspection in Screws and Bolts
The traditional method for thread inspection is profile control using backlighting, derived from automating manual profilometer checks. While precise, this method is limited to a single thread section. Glass slide sorters capture a cross-sectional image of the piece during its fall, allowing for an economical yet limited inspection. With the introduction of metal disk tables, it became possible to implement piece rotation in front of the dimensional camera, capturing multiple images. This method reduces false positives but increases inspection time and costs.
