The Future of Hot Forming High-End Fasteners and Bolts
This article focuses on the manufacturing of high-end fasteners and bolts produced on vertical presses. In many companies this is still a manual load process. Vertical presses were created in the late 18th century, and they have not evolved like rockets or airplane technology. However, the use of vertical presses is still, for many companies the state of the art of manufacturing high end fasteners. Basic process requires an operator to load a blank into an external induction heating coil. The blank is in a vertical position and a bolt and nut will allow the operator to adjust the heating length and position of the blank in the coil. The operator then will activate the heating process.
